EMBUTIDO RECIPE


Embutido, is a Filipino-style steamed meatloaf, which is filled with slices of boiled egg and sausages on the inside. This is a very good comfort food and is usually eaten with rice and dip in a sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce with calamansi. Here is a recipe I made according to my taste.




INGREDIENTS:
1/2 kilo ground pork
1/4 kilo ground beef
chopped carrots
chopped bell peppers(red/green)
1 medium chopped onions
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 raw egg
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp vetsin (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
sweet pickle relish and raisins (optional)
2 tbsp oil
3 hard boiled eggs
vienna sausages


PROCEDURE:

BOIL THE 3 EGGS IN ADVANCE AND LET IT COOL DOWN AFTER IT'S DONE.
Slice it in quarters after.

Meanwhile, prepare the steamer for the rolls.

1. Heat the oil in a skillet,t hen saute the onions, garlic, carrots, and the bell peppers. Set aside and let it cool.

2. In a big bowl, mix the ground pork, ground beef, salt, egg, soy sauce, vetsin, cornstarch, and the sweet pickle relish and raisins(optional).
(It's better to use your hands in mixing, to mix it well.)

3. When the sauteed spices are cool already, mix it with the ground pork mixture. Mix it well.

4. Get an aluminum foil. Lay it down and put some of the mixture in the middle, flatten the mixture and put the sliced eggs alternately with the sausages on top of the ground pork mixture. Then roll it over like a log. Do the same with the rest of the mixture.

5. Seal the aluminum foil well at the edges.

6. Place the rolls in the steamer for one hour.

7. When you're ready to eat it, take the rolls out of the foil and fry it for awhile until it is golden brown.

8. Slice and serve!:)

(FOR LEFTOVERS: Freeze the pork rolls which are still in the aluminum foil. Then when you want to eat it, take it out and let it stand in room temperature for awhile then fry it until it turns golden brown.)


* Sauteing the veggies is good when you're planning to freeze some rolls. Because uncooked veggies when mixed with the meat and not consumed easily will let the food get bad quickly. But if you plan to consume the food right away, you can just mix all the ingredients together without sauteing the spices.*
